Tryst with Happiness

The clouds cried,
A torrent of tears,
The dainty earth
turned a flowery fresh.
A freshly laundered sky
hiding a shy sun.
Then I walked beneath the tree,
And the naughty wind
chased the leaves.
The branches swayed from side to side
As they laughed at me.
The little fairies up in the tree
who hide the poor raindrops
hurled them at me;
As the wind guffawed,
A hearty laugh.
And I joined in the celebration
the raindrops glistening in my
Happiness.
I twirled as the fairies hurled them at me.
And a laugh escaped my shy lips
In sheer ecstacy.
Unmindful of the prying eyes
who envied my glee
when I walked beneath the tree.
My eyes danced with delight
As the leaves swayed
To the singing wind.
My heart leapt up
And joined in the dance
To the rhythm of happiness.
I learnt the language
Of true joy
When I walked beneath the tree.
